I'm a Principal Computer Vision and Machine Learning Engineer at Nvidia, working on perception for autonomous vehicles. I'm also an Associate Professor in Communication and Statistics at UCLA. I'm an interdisciplinary researcher, and my research has addressed a broad range of research questions and practical issues about AI in both technical and social aspects over the last 18 years. These topics include autonomous driving, Human-AI interaction, face and gestures, collaborative robots, simulations, explainable and fair computer vision and deep learning.
I have worked in academia and industry and held positions in engineering and social sciences. My research has appeared in top venues in computer science as well as social sciences and has been supported by NSF, USDA, Hellman Fellowship, and various industrial sponsors. I have served as an Area Chair in top AI conferences such as CVPR, ECCV, NeurIPS, and AAAI.
